Calling all BKLYN Commons members! Looking for a way to safely promote your products and services? This virtual experience was created with your small business in mind.
On November 24, 2020, virtual meets reality as BKLYN Commons Prospect Lefferts Gardens hosts its 4th annual Open Desk Small Business Pop Up. Celebrating the products and services of its members, The Fourth Annual Open Desk Small Business Pop Up Shop will take place from 4-6pm and will showcase BKLYN Commons members through scheduled live streamed interviews (broadcasted on Facebook) from the coworking space’s state-of-the-art content studio.
“Because of the pandemic, this year’s event will look different,” said Johanne Brierre, Head of Growth at BKLYN Commons. “With the holiday season upon us, our main focus is safely supporting our community of diverse businesses. We have to keep the small businesses within our walls moving forward.”
In years past, BKLYN Commons’ Open Desk Small Business Pop Up Shop has brought hundreds of entrepreneurs and local community members together to highlight the diverse small businesses that reside in the PLG coworking space and beyond. This year’s goal is to harness technology and produce a member fueled virtual affair that safely supports the co-working space’s diverse business community.
The 2020 Open Desk Pop Up shop will be solely member-focused, with resources and support provided by community partners. Those associates include: Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Bed-Stuy Gateway BID, NYC Department of Small Business Services (SBS), IMPACCT Brooklyn, Graham Avenue BID, SoBol Brooklyn, NY Beauty Suites, TrendyTripping, Parkside Plaza, and Parkside-Empire Flatbush Avenue Merchants Association.
To encourage a seamless, virtual purchasing experience, each participating small business will be provided with a unique QR code to promote and sell their products and services. On event day, those tuning in from home will be able to access the QR codes on the BKLYN Commons blog. The QR codes will also be posted on the doors of each participating vendor storefront inside of BKLYN Commons to promote socially distanced, contact-free purchasing in-person.
“BKLYN Commons puts the health and safety of its members first,” said Brierre. “For those partaking in-person, masks will be worn and social distancing will be monitored. We’ve increased PPE and now offer touch-free building access so that all members feel safe and welcomed to shop small and participate in this safe hybrid experience.”
